Our Story

We’re sisters, best friends, and now business partners.

We’ve always loved coming up with business ideas (and watching Shark Tank!), so we decided to try turning one of our ideas into something real.

As students at Hathaway Brown, we thought it would be fun to create something special that girls could wear to show their school spirit. We started with two pieces we would love to wear ourselves: a sparkly brown skirt and a gold sequin bomber jacket.

With encouragement from the HB community and the opportunity to offer our first collection through The Brown Bag, our little idea started becoming a real business. Lily believed in it so much that she decided to invest the money she received for her First Communion to help finance our very first collection.

And we quickly learned that having an idea is only the beginning.

We picked fabrics, compared colors, reviewed samples, made changes, worked with a manufacturer, designed our own labels and hangtags, figured out sizing and pricing, and built our very first website.

Not everything turned out exactly the way we imagined on the first try. Sometimes we had to change our ideas, choose something different, or go back to the drawing board. And that turned out to be one of the most important things we learned.

Lily & Lucy’s Sisterhood is our way of learning how a real business works while creating things we think girls will love.

Our first collection was inspired by our school, but we already have lots of ideas for what might come next—pajamas, headbands, dresses, and maybe even ideas we haven’t thought of yet.
